Lenovo Phab 2 Pro: What not to expect?

Lenovo is a Chinese smartphone manufacturing giant providing the best in class features at low cost. Lenovo has handled a command on budget segment since last few months. With the rivals releasing devices with the latest features and low cost, Lenovo has come back with a new device called Lenovo Phab 2 Pro. It is a successor to the Lenovo Phab 2 device. All the Lenovo fans were expecting a successor to Phab 2, so the company made a dream come true. In this blog, we will review Lenovo Phab 2 Pro and provide a verdict if the device is worth the money.


The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro will arrive with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box. There is no confirmed news about the device might get Android 7.0 (Nougat). This device will be a dual SIM device with both SIM being GSM. Both the SIMs shall be nano size because of the hybrid slot provided. The device will support 4G, 3G and 2G.

Design and Display

The dimensions of this device are 179.8 (H) x 88.5 (W) x 10.7(T)mm. According to the information published on some of the relevant sources, the device weighs 259 grammes. Casing and back build material is made from metal. The device will be available only in one colour variant, Champagne Gold. The display is 6.4 inches humongous with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The pixel density is 459ppi which means denser pixels and more display enhancement. It will be an IPS LCD type display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The device has a capacitive touch with 10-point multi-touch support. Screen to body ratio of this device is 70.8%.

Performance& Storage

At the heart of this device is Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 MSM8976. This is an octa-core processor with Cortex A72 Quad-core chipset clocked at 1.8GHz and Cortex A53 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.4GHz. This processor has a 64-bit architecture. Graphics on this device are handled by Adreno 510 GPU which is efficient and capable of handling high-end Android games. It is backed by 4GB RAM for faster, better and efficient multi-tasking. This device has a64GBinbuilt memory which is tagged best in class as compared to other devices. You can expand the memory with MicrosSd card up to 128GB.


This device has two cameras on thefront and rear side of the device. The rear camera is 16MP with autofocus, and it is supported by LED flash. The images captured by therear camera has the resolution 4616 x 3464 pixels. In the settings panel, one can find options like exposure compensation and ISO control. One can also select the storage path of captured images from the settings panel. There are two shooting modes on this device continuous shooting mode and High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode. Camera features include digital zoom, touch to focus and face detection. The front camera provides beautiful resolution with 8MP, and its aperture is 2.2f.


Thisdevice is also powered by 4050mAh battery. It is a Li-Polymer type and non-user replaceable, but it supports quick charging. The quick charge facility charges your device extremely fast when enabled. With the quick charge facility, device can be charged up to 50% in time less than 30 minutes.

Network & Connectivity

There are two SIM slots on the device. For housing the dual SIM there is a hybrid slot provided. In a hybrid slot, one can either house two nano SIM card or one nano SIM and one microSD card. The networks supported are 4G (Indian bands), 3G and 2G. It is to be noted that until now it is not yet confirmed that whether the device is VoLTE enabled. Moreover, Wi-Fi is provided for flawless wireless internet provision. The Wi-Fi standards are 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n/n clocked at 5GHz. The device can act as amobile hotspot which means it can provide wireless internet connection to another Wi-Fi enabled device. Bluetooth v4.0 is provided for faster file transfer over Bluetooth. Navigation purpose is satisfied by theprovision of GPS. This device is not NFC enabled, so the buyer who are habituated with NFC are not recommended to go for this one. The charging and data transfer with a desktop can be done through micro USB v2.0 port.

This device has the loudspeakers with Dolby Atmos feature. With Dolby Atmos, sound clarity is guaranteed, and the sound at maximum volume is higher than devices which are not sporting Dolby Atmos.

This device has afingerprint sensor on the rear side exactly below the camera. The fingerprint sensor is a biometric security system and is faster than other unlocking methods.


Lenovo Phab 2 Pro price in India is expected to be 15k-18k. With the specifications mentioned above the device is worth buying but as mentioned earlier if NFC is a basic necessity then one cannot go with this one.
